Requirements for Embryo Transfer

Foals resulting from embryo transfer may be eligible for registration if the following conditions are met:

1. Embryo Transfer Permit:
A permit is required for each purebred Arabian mare used as a donor for embryo transfer.
The permit remains valid until the mare’s registered ownership changes.
To obtain the permit:
> Complete the permit request form, signed by the mare’s registered owner.
> The donor mare’s DNA profile must be recorded with the Registry.
> Pay the required fee.

2. Late Permit:
If the permit is not obtained before embryo collection and implantation, a late permit fee and possible investigation costs/penalties will apply.

3. Foal Registration:
A foal may be registered if:
> An Embryo Transfer Permit has been issued for the donor mare.
> The foal’s DNA profile confirms its parentage through DNA testing.
> An Embryo Transfer Registration Application is submitted within 14 days of the foal’s birth.

4. Embryo Transfer Timing:
> The embryo must be transferred to a recipient mare within three days of collection from the donor mare.

5. Embryo Sale:
> If the embryo is sold before the foal’s birth, an Embryo Sale form must be completed and submitted with the Registration Application.
> The Certificate of Registration will be issued according to the terms
